Non-School Alternative Provision
We have been officially approved as a provider on the Devon County Council Alternative Provision Framework!
This means Made-Well is now recognised by Devon County Council as a high-quality, safe and supportive setting for children and young people aged 8+ who benefit from learning in a different type of environment, allowing us to now offer Non-School Alternative Provision in a Therapeutic Learning Environment.
What We Offer:
• therapeutic, wellbeing-focused sessions
• animal care and horticulture
• hands-on activities such as woodwork, crafts and life skills
• personalised support
• a nurturing, small and calm environment for young people who find larger or busier settings challenging
Important to note:
Made-Well CIC is not a school and does not offer full-time education.
We provide part-time, personalised, therapeutic learning sessions that work alongside a child or young person’s existing education or support plan.
Opportunities for young people to partake in as part of our Alternative Provision could include:

Animal Care
At Made-Well we offer opportunities to help care for our farm animals, poultry and the animals in our Animal Barn. There are many benefits to this, including reducing stress and anxiety levels, promoting social interaction, and helping them with motor skills and strength building.

Gardening
At our site near Hatherleigh and near Petrockstowe (Longlands) we have gardens and allotments that the people we support help maintain. Gardening promotes a sense of accomplishment, boosts mental wellbeing by reducing stress and anxiety, improves motor skills and teaches about nutrition. We provide the valuable opportunity for individuals to see how the produce we grow goes from field to fork, as we then cook with it!

Cooking
Made-Well has a choice of kitchens for our individuals to cook in. Cooking is a creative and social activity, which helps motor skills and boosts mental wellbeing. Our individuals are taught about nutrition and how to cook safely. They then have the chance to serve food they have prepare in our café, which is open to the general public. This is great for their self esteem and provides interaction with the community.

Woodwork
We have a well equipped Wood Workshop and a skilled team. Woodwork provides opportunities for problem solving, motor skills, team work and community interaction. We take our handmade products to local markets and our individuals can join in, taking pride in selling their items.

Swimming
We usually go swimming once a week. Swimming alleviates pressure on joints and muscles, improves heart health and builds muscle strength. It can improve coordination, balance and posture. As with all exercise, swimming releases endorphins in your brain, which make you feel good.
We often have trips to our local hydro spa, which is very popular with the people we support. This has a warm water pool with massage jets and water sprays, various saunas, steam rooms and an ice station. As well as being a relaxing and sociable experience it can have health benefits such as treatment for aching joints and sore muscles.
... And more!
Referral pathways and enquiries will be available soon.
Thank you for your support as we take this exciting next step!
